Vernon Vipers Alumni Brownlee Sings National Anthem At NHL All-Star Game:

Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Chad Brownlee Brownlee performed the Canadian National Anthem at the 2019 NHL All-Star game.


Brownlee a current Country music star took home two awards at the 2016 BCCMA Country Awards in October, won Album/EP of the Year (Hearts on Fire) & Male Vocalist of the Year is one of several artists that will be playing in Kelowna at the newest country music festival in September. Brownlee will be the headliner for the new Denim on the Diamond music festival.

"The Best That I Can (Superhero)",  his first single, was released in November 2009. Brownlee's self-titled debut album, produced by Mitch Merrett, was released in August 2010. Brownlee won the 2011 CCMA Rising Star award winner, also a recipient of his first JUNO Award nomination for Country Album of the Year on February 19, 2013. 

Brownlee played two years in Vernon (2001-03). In 113 regular season games with the Vipers, Brownlee collected (14-goals-28-assists-42-points). Brownlee was drafted in 2003 in the 6th round, by the NHL Vancouver Canucks but retired from hockey after a short stint in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) with the Idaho Steelheads following a series of injuries, before becoming a Country music star.

Jauregui, Stanford Band added to entertainment lineup for event

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Platinum-selling recording artist Lauren Jauregui, country music star Chad Brownlee and the Stanford Band have joined the entertainment lineup for the 2019 Honda NHL® All-Star Game, the National Hockey League (NHL) announced today. The mid-season showcase of the top stars in the NHL will broadcast live from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on NBC in the U.S. and on Sportsnet, CBC and TVA Sports in Canada.

Jauregui and Brownlee will perform the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems, respectively. Alexis Bravo, a junior student at California School for the Deaf, will sign in American Sign Language both the U.S. and Canadian National Anthems. The Stanford Band will give a special performance during the game.

As previously announced, GRAMMY Award-winning artist Bebe Rexha will headline the entertainment with a performance in the second intermission presented by Ticketmaster®.

Jauregui is an artist, singer, songwriter, creative and humanitarian. The 22-year-old has embarked on the next chapter of her career with the release of her debut solo song "Expectations" via Columbia Records. The track was written by Jauregui and provides fans the first glimpse into new music from the award-winning artist, which will continue to roll out into 2019.

Jauregui spent most of 2018 in the studio with writers/producers like Khaled Rohaim, Illangelo, Kid Harpoon, King Henry, Ilsey Juber and Alex Hope. True to her artistic ethos, this next phase of Jauregui's career finds her fully expressing her creativity in every aspect of her art, from writing songs to conceptualizing and editing videos. In January, Jauregui was included as a 2019 member of Forbes' prestigious "30 Under 30" list. She has been featured on the cover of magazines such as NYLON, Ladygunn, tmrw, Coup de Main and King Kong Magazine.

Outside of the studio, Jauregui has spent much of her life developing her talents beyond being a vocalist, from engaging in political activism and using her wide-ranging social platform as a mouthpiece to share her views. ‪With more than 12 million followers across social media, Jauregui understands the power of her platform and her voice as a young member of society. She is politically outspoken and actively involved in protests. Once a Vancouver Canucks draft pick, now a critically acclaimed country music star, Brownlee is marking his return after a brief hiatus and new team behind him. With the signature sound that fans know and love, but with a fresh new flair, Brownlee released his debut single "Dear Drunk Me" in summer of 2018 - radiating a suave maturity with personal evolution, growth and improvement. The track was written by Gordie Sampson, an acclaimed songwriter for artists such as Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton. "Dear Drunk Me" quickly topped charts hitting number 2 on the Canadian Country music charts - his first ever Top 5 single.

On January 4, Brownlee released his second single "Forever's Gotta Start Somewhere" and is currently in the process of finishing his major label debut album. The singer-songwriter's catalog of albums contains a plethora of fan-favorites and radio hits like "Love Me Or Leave Me," and gold-certified "I Hate You For It" - proving the steady stream of love for Brownlee's sound and words. The 2019 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend marks the second time NHL All-Star activities will take place in San Jose. The Sharks previously hosted the event in 1997.
