Welcome to Manchester, Brendan Brooks!

Wed 24th October 2018

Your Go Goodwins sponsored Manchester Storm are thrilled to announce the signing of Brendan Brooks, who is joining the club as a late signing for the 2018/19 season!

The dual national forward has already played alongside Storm teammates, Dallas Ehrhardt and Mike Hammond earlier this year, as part of team Great Britain – where he played a part in their promotion up to “Pool A” and won a gold medal.

The right-handed forward is no newcomer to the EIHL, having been in the league since 2015/16, signing with Braehead (Glasgow) Clan. Brooks moved to Fife Flyers the following season, where he collected 48 points in 52 games, before signing back to Clan for the 2017/18 season. During his time with Clan he accumulated 96 points across 105 games, including 51 goals, last season averaging over a point per game. The versatile forward was picked up by Sheffield Steelers this season as a late signing in September, also happening to be the man who scored the game winning goal against Storm in a Challenge Cup last month.

The gold medallist winner has plenty of AHL experience, having played for six different teams including, Worcester IceCats and Grand Rapids Griffins, before moving over to Europe in 2007/2008. Brooks also spent three seasons in the DEL, Germany’s top tier league. With the experience and skills of someone like Brooks, it’ll be great to see what he will bring to the Storm.

We hope Storm fans make Brooks feel welcome at the club this season. He will be wearing #49 and his jerseys will be available to own and loan shortly. You can subscribe to the club’s social media to make sure you don’t miss out on the special opportunity.

Head coach, Ryan Finnerty, is pleased with the deal made with Brooks, commenting;

“I’ve worked with Brooksy previously, he understands my systems and I love the speed and intensity he will bring to our team. We felt we needed a top six forward and I believe he will fit in well here.”

Brendan Brooks will be making his way over to Manchester prior to this weekend, where he will be jumping in on the lineup for special game, Armed Forces night against Belfast Giants, 19:00 face-off.

If any businesses or individuals would be keen to learn about a fantastic “full player sponsorship” for Brendan Brooks, please email liam@storm-office.com for more information!

In light of this news, #93 Marcus Basara has been released from his contract with the Storm. The club would like to thank him for all his time so far and wish him all the very best with his future endeavours.

Treat your kids to the OSC’s special spooky Halloween themed party with the team on Friday 26 October, at The Station Hotel HERE. There will be games and scary chocolate making with Oliver’s Chocolate Parties.
