There were likely times in a trying 2017-18 Coquitlam Express season that tested the mettle of Christian Sanda but his perseverance has paid off in the form of an NCAA future.

Sanda, who slogged through a 18-38-2 campaign with the Express last season, now finds himself part of a winning club and has earned an NCAA Div. I opportunity at Union College.

With 10-9-19 in 21 games so far this season, the native of St. Paul, Minn. has already surpassed his goal total of last season and is sure to set a new personal points mark in the near future. He is second on the Express in goals and is tied for the team lead in game-winning tallies with three.

At Union College, Sanda will join a Dutchmen team that competes in the NCAA’s ECAC Hockey conference along with Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Harvard, Princeton, RPI, Yale, Quinnipiac and Colgate.

NCAA national champions in 2014, Union has been an active recruiter of BCHL talent over the years. Currently, BCHL alums Cole Maier, Brett Supinski, Darian Hanson, Blake Hayward and Brendan Taylor are on their roster.

Other current BCHL players committed to Union for future season’s are Prince George’s Dylan Anhorn, Powell River’s Ben Thomas and West Kelowna’s Mike Hardman.
