  1. I watched tonight's Vipers game online. Both teams entered tonight playing their first exhibition game of the season and for a preseason game I thought it was very good and entertaining. I thought the Centennials had a slight edge in play and had the better scoring chances. Merritt had some quality opportunities but couldn't solve Aidan Porter or Johnny Derrick who were both solid between the pipes for the Vipers. It looked like a pretty good size crowd for a hockey game in Merritt in late August. The players returning from last year who played tonight had their names on their jerseys while I was very surprised to see a lot of the newcomers with their name bars on the back of their jerseys. I counted the returning players from last year and the kids who were trying out this year that had their names on their jerseys and that made 17 players with their name bar on the back of their jersey. This meaning the Vipers only need to fill five roster spots? I'm very surprised the team has almost been picked on the day of the teams first exhibition game. Any one of these kids that has a name bar on their jersey could easily be cut or traded. This is the first time I have ever seen the Vipers put names on their jerseys for the preseason games, other then the players returning from the year before.
