Boxscore-Game Summary,
Game Report,
Text Boxscore,
I watched tonight's game online. The Vipers got off to a great start, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. The Vipers would jump ahead 3-1 heading into the 3rd. Like in Game 3 the Snakes held a 3-2 lead going into the 3rd but lost 4-3. Tonight Vernon blows a two goal lead before going to overtime for a second straight night. This is a game the Vipers cant lose and did. Up 3-1 heading into the 3rd you need to close this game out.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Vipers played their best hockey in the first two periods since a 7-1 victory in Game 1 of the series. I thought the Snakes held a slight edge in the first two periods, had the better of the scoring chances. What happened to the Vipers in the 3rd and overtime? The Wild totally dominated the 3rd and overtime to come away with the come from behind win to clinch the series and move onto the 3rd round for the first time in BCHL history.
Wenatchee turned this series around in a hurry after losing the first two games, were by far the better team in Games 2,3,4 and 5.
I thought Vernon had several opportunities in the first two periods to extend their lead but couldn't capitalize on their chances. This cost them in the end. A very tough/disappointing loss for the Vipers who had a chance to win Games 3 & 6 with leads heading into the 3rd in both games.
If you ask any Vipers fan with the regular season they had this year, sitting in 1st place in the Interior Division and overall standings from about mid October to mid January looked like the team to beat this year. I would say before the playoffs started, most Viper fans would be very disappointed without a BCHL Championship this year.
I did a quick look at the Vipers roster and all depending what happens over the off season, it looks like the Snakes could have a possible eight players returning for next season.
