Due to the weather conditions I decided to stay home and watch tonight's game online. With the temperature dropping to -3/-4 tonight and flurries/snow due to fall overnight, the drive home could be dicey. So I decided to play it safe and stay home.
ReplyDeleteTonight was the first Vipers game I have ever missed in West Kelowna. Since the Langley Hornets moved to West Kelowna in 2006 I have gone to every Viper game prior to tonight.
The Vipers got off to a strong start, had the early edge in play early were down 1-0 after a fairly evenly matched 1st period. Vernon would tie the game just twelve seconds into the middle frame, before exploding for six second period goals. The Snakes with a pretty dominate 2nd period. With the game pretty well in hand, the game got chippy early to start the 3rd. The Tribe scored very late after the Vipers scored seven straight goals. The Vipers win the season series, going 6-0 vs the Warriors this year.
Vernon product Coleton Bilodeau with his first career BCHL goal tonight.
The Snakes have struggled since returning from the Christmas break, have gone 5-5 since the Holiday break. Tonight was a huge win snapping a two game losing skid and also trying to re-group after the loss of owner Duncan Wray.
Tonight was the final game of a four game road trip, but also the first game of a three game weekend.
With the win Vernon improves to 30-12-4-1 sit tied in points with the Penticton Vees, with the Vees taking top spot due to less wins and fewer games played. The Vees with three games in hand.
That was a fantastic game with the boys playing off the planet in the 2nd period. This should boost their confidence going forward and Duncan would have been very pleased with their performance.
