Islanders Place Vipers Alumni Jones On Waivers:

The New York Islanders have placed former Vernon Vipers forward Connor Jones on waivers.

Jones is in his third season with the American Hockey League (AHL) Bridgeport Sound Tigers, signed a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract with the New York Islanders February 22, 2017 & again July 27th, 2017. Jones made his NHL debut, April 2nd 2017 with the New York Islanders after being called up from the American Hockey League (AHL) Bridgeport Sound Tigers April 1st 2017. Jones played once with the Islanders before being sent back down to the American Hockey League April 4th 2017.

After four years at Quinnipiac University Jones signed his first pro contract with the American Hockey League (AHL) Oklahoma City Barons April 3rd 2014. Jones has spent the past two seasons playing with three teams in three different leagues. (ECHL-Bakersfield Condors, AHL-Oklahoma City Barons & the AHL-Bridgeport Sound Tigers).

Jones played In 163 regular season games with the Vipers collecting (80-goals-118-assists-198-points) Jones is the Vipers all-time points leader (regular season & playoffs) with 228 & all-time goals leader (regular season & playoffs) with 95.

The New York Islanders have reduced their training camp roster to 31 players.

The following players have been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League: Sebastian Aho, Kyle Burroughs, Michael Dal Colle, Tanner Fritz, Ross Johnston, Kane LaFranchise, Eamon McAdam, Kyle Schempp, John Stevens, Devon Toews, Mitchell Vande Sompel and Parker Wotherspoon

Six other players were released from their professional tryout contracts: Casey Bailey, Scott Eansor, Jeff Kubiak, Ben Holmstrom, Travis St. Denis and Yannick Turcotte

The Islanders also placed the following players on waivers: Christopher Gibson, Kristers Gudlevskis, Seth Helgeson and Connor Jones.

UPDATE: Gibson, Gudlevskis, Helgeson and Jones cleared waivers and were assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).

Thirty one players remain on the New York Islanders training camp roster, including 18 forwards, 9 defensemen and 4 goalies.
