Stockton Heat Add-Sign Ex Vernon Viper Musico:

The American Hockey League (AHL) Stockton Heat have added
former Vernon Vipers goaltender PJ Musico to their roster on a pro tryout contract.

Musico is joining his fourth team this season after attending the New York Rangers Training Camp in October, was assigned to the American Hockey League Hartford Wolf Pack before joining the Swamp Rabbits October 11th 2016. The Swamp Rabbits traded Musico to the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Fort Wayne Komets before being placed on waivers February 7th 2017. Musico returned to Greenville after signing with the Swamp Rabbits February 10th 2017 before being released then claimed off waivers March 1st 2017 East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Tulsa Oilers.

After playing four years of University at Penn State, Musico signed his first professional contract with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Greenville Swamp Rabbits October 13th 2015 before being traded February 9th 2015 to the ECHL Quad City Mallards. The American Hockey League (AHL) Chicago Wolves signed Musico February 27, 2016 where he would finish the season. Musico would head back to Greenville signing with the Swamp Rabbits July 7, 2016.

Musico attended the Vernon Vipers 2008 Training Camp before being released.

Flames Recall Jon Gillies

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today that they have recalled goaltender Jon Gillies on an emergency basis from their AHL affiliate, the Stockton Heat.  The Heat have added goaltender P.J. Musico to the roster on a pro tryout contract.

Gillies, Calgary’s third round pick (75th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft, has played 38 games for Stockton in his second pro season and has a 17-14-1 record with a shutout, a 2.95 GAA and a .909 SV%. The 23-year-old leads the Heat goalies in games played and wins as the club is currently tied for a playoff spot in the AHL.
