Hartford Wolf Pack Loan Viper Alumni Noonan To ECHL:

The American Hockey League Hartford Wolf Pack have loaned former Vernon Vipers defenceman Garrett Noonan to the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Noonan has split this season between the Wolf Pack & Swamp Rabbits, attended the New York Rangers training camp in October before being assisgned to the Wolf Pack. The Wolf Pack loaned Noonan to the Swamp Rabbits October 13, 2016 before returning to Hartford in February. In 26 games this season with Hartford Noonan has three assists, while picking up (1-goal-9-assists-10-points) in 24 games with Greenville.

Noonan started last season with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Cincinnati Cyclones, split last year between Cincinnati & the American Hockey League (AHL) Milwaukee Admirals.

After four seasons at Boston University Noonan signed a Entry-Level Deal with the Nashville Predators on April 22nd 2014 also signed an amateur try-out contract (ATO) with the American Hockey League (AHL) Milwaukee Admirals. Noonan has spent the past two seasons playing with Cincinnati & Milwaukee. Noonan was drafted by Nashville in Round 4 #112 overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Noonan played one season in Vernon (2009-2010) In 58 regular season games with the Vipers Noonan collected (2-goals-16-assists-18-points).

Greenville, SC – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that forward Adam Chapie and goaltender Mackenzie Skapski have been reassigned by the New York Rangers from Hartford to Greenville. In addition, defenseman Garrett Noonan has been loaned by Hartford to Greenville. In another transaction, goaltender Brandon Halverson has been reassigned by the New York Rangers from the Swamp Rabbits to the Wolf Pack.

The trio of players from Hartford rejoins the Swamp Rabbits with five games remaining in the regular season. Greenville ranks second in the South Division, seeking to solidify a spot in the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Skapski has seen the most time in Greenville this season, playing 30 games and owning a 17-10-0-0 record. The netminder from Abbotsford, BC recorded a shutout on December 9th against South Carolina and has earned a 3.31 goals against average and .903 save percentage. Skapski has won his last four decisions in Greenville dating back to February 22nd. The 2013 New York Rangers draft pick is fourth on the franchise all-time wins list with 22. In the AHL, Skapski has suited up in 13 games, making 47 saves on 50 shots during his last two appearances.

Chapie returns to Greenville for the first time since December 7th. The rookie winger earned his first career call-up after collecting nine points (3G, 6A) in 19 ECHL games. With the Wolf Pack, Chapie skated in 24 games and earned four assists after missing the entire month of January. The Rochester, MI native signed with the Rangers after totaling 95 points (46G, 49A) during a four-year collegiate career with the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Noonan enters his second stint with the Swamp Rabbits after also logging considerable time with the Wolf Pack. The third-year pro’s call up on December 31st was the seventh of his career after collecting eight assists in 19 games for Greenville. The Norfolk, MA native has since totaled three assists in 26 AHL games. The blue liner has accumulated 61 points (10G, 51A) in 97 career ECHL contests and added 13 points (4G, 9A) in 83 AHL games.

Halverson has split the season between Hartford and Greenville. The rookie netminder was reassigned from Hartford on March 8th back to Greenville where he began the season. In nine appearances with the Swamp Rabbits, the Traverse City, MI native has compiled a 4-5-0-0 record, 3.43 goals against average, and .897 save percentage. His first career victory came on October 19th, shutting out the Norfolk Admirals with 27 saves. Halverson’s AHL time consists of 24 games played, a 9-14-0-0 record, 3.40 goals against average, and .886 save percentage.

The Swamp Rabbits are back at Bon Secours Wellness Arena for three games this week against the Atlanta Gladiators. Friday night is Celebrate Greenville presented by Fluor with the puck dropping at 7:00 p.m. Fans can kick the evening off with  a pregame Craft Beer Festival on the Furman Plaza that will begin at 5:30. Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m., the Swamp Rabbits meet the Gladiators to finish the weekend. After the game, hit the ice with the entire team for the final post-game skate game of the season.
