Thanks to Vipers assistant coach Kevin Pederson for putting on this event! What a great idea, especially for Viper fans who haven't seen hockey for two weeks. Most if not all NHL teams are doing these skill competitions for the fans and I think it's a great idea for other leagues-teams. I enjoyed the skills competition but know several fans-people who had no idea about it. Other then a press release on the Vipers website and a few adds over the local radio, there was a small write up in the paper Friday under the Coy Cup story-article. Very short notice and very advertising. I would like to see the Vipers do this event again next season and season's after but give the fans some heads up as well as do some advertising. The newspaper should have had an article or some kind of story on this prior to the event. I also think having a 6pm start time on a Friday made it tough for several people-fans to attend. I think 7pm would have been much better-easier for fans-families who work until 5pm or even 5:30-6pm and couldn't make it on time. One idea would be to advertise something like this at the start of the season, include the ticket in with season ticket holders, so fans know about it. You may get a better crowd out for this event. Otherwise, was a lot of fun to watch. I'm sure it was also a ton of fun for the Vipers.
