The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce that Brett Stapley has committed to Denver University, a NCAA Division I school in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Stapley in his second season with the Vipers has 12 goals and 31 assists for 43 points in 48 games this season.
The 5-foot-10 native of Campbell River, British Columbia is a quick footed forward that has a tenacious work ethic and high compete level.
“We are extremely excited for Brett and he has worked very hard to earn this opportunity,” said Viper’s Head Coach Mark Ferner. “It’s a fantastic school with a top notch hockey program and the team couldn’t be happier for him.”
Stapley will also join former Vernon Viper Liam Finlay, who is currenty in his freshman season with the Denver Pioneers.
As usual, the Viper office news release is incomplete. I consulted Chris Heisenberg's site to find out which season that Stapley would begin school in the US. Heisenberg has him starting in 2018 or 2019. So it looks like we have at least one more season of watching him play in Vernon.
