This team, this year is starting to remind me of a long time ago Vernon Viper team who believed in themselves and there team mates. There was once upon a time a Penticton team whose record throughout the year was amazing. This team had an ego a mile long. They felt there future was golden, written in stone. The prize was there's, but nobody told the Vernon Vipers team and they ending up interior division champions. I was at that game. A penticton fan said to me , to bad you wasted your gas getting here you know where going to win this. I was polite and said, you know we have two good teams on the ice, lets just wait till the end of the game. Well, I was delighted as a fan to walk out of penticton's ego filled fans arena/ along with Fred H. and his Vees which felt no way would they lose a winner. So Vernon Vipers I think we have something special this year, so lets become winners for Vernon Fans and for the Vernon Vipers. GO,Vipers, GO.
ReplyDeleteI watched last night's game online. What a game! The Vipers seemed to carry the play in the 1st but couldn't find the back of the net. In the 2nd Merritt picked up their game and scored twice taking a 2-0 lead into the 3rd. The Vipers didn't see a lot of zone time in the 2nd. When the Centennials went up 3-0 I figured the game was over. Give the Vipers credit, they battled hard, never gave up and rallied for three 3rd period goals to tie the game-force overtime. What a thrilling two overtime periods. Chances at both ends. I think the Cents had atleast three breakaways. Vernon with a great opportunity to end the game on the powerplay in the second overtime couldn't get the win. But a huge comeback on the road in a tough building the Vipers have had troubles in the past few seasons. I liked the looks of this years team way back in Training camp-the pre-season. They were missing a few key players, once Mark Ferner noticed that and made some key trades-roster moves through out the season, the Vipers have got their game going and playing very well as of late. It wasn't that long ago the Vipers couldn't seem to win more then one game before losing the next. This team has really gelled and plays with a lot of confidence. These kids believe in themselves and you can never count this team out! Give full credits to Mark Ferner and the coaching staff for their recruiting this year and making the right trades-roster moves through the season. Vipers will be in tough tonight in Trail.
