Former Viper Kisio Named World Under-17’s Head Coach:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Brent Kisio has been named Head Coach for the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Kisio is in his second season with the Western Hockey League (WHL) Hurricanes. Kisio guided the Canes to a (46-24-1-1) regular season record last season was named the Eastern Conference nominee for Coach of the Year last season.

Kisio was an Assistant, Associate Coach & Assistant General Manager for eight seasons with the Western Hockey League (WHL) Calgary Hitmen before being named the  Lethbridge Hurricanes Head Coach June 4th 2015.

Kisio played one season in Vernon (2002-2003) in 59 regular season games with the Vipers Kisio collected (20-goals-46-assists-66-points).

Addison & Tarzwell Named to World Under-17’s

Lethbridge, AB – Hockey Canada announced Wednesday the rosters for the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and two Lethbridge Hurricanes players, Calen Addison and Josh Tarzwell, will take part in the tournament to be held in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from October 27th until November 5th.

Addison, 16, was selected by the Hurricanes second overall in the 2015 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. The Brandon, Manitoba product has recorded six points (2g-4a) along with a plus-1 rating and 10 penalty minutes in seven games this season for the Hurricanes. He has appeared in a total of 11 games with the Hurricanes. The 5’9”, 177-pound defenseman registered 15 points (8g-7a) along with 42 penalty minutes in 15 games last year with the Brandon Wheat Kings Midget AAA in the Manitoba Midget Hockey League.

Tarzwell, 16, was selected by the Hurricanes in the second round (24th overall) in the 2015 Bantam Draft. The product of Red Deer, Alberta has appeared in four games this season for the Hurricanes recording one goal and two penalty minutes. He has dressed in a total of six WHL games with the Hurricanes in his short career. The 6’1”, 198-pound forward had 18 points (9g-9a) along with 14 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Red Deer Chiefs Midget AAA in the Alberta Midget Hockey League during the 2015-2016 season.

A total of 66 players country-wide have been named to the three Canadian teams (Black, Red and White) including a total of 24 WHL players will take part.

In addition, Lethbridge Hurricanes Head Coach Brent Kisio and Video Coach Andrew Doty will also take part in the tournament as they will serve as Head Coach and Video Coach respectively of Canada White.
