The Vernon Vipers have made a number of roster moves ahead of tonight’s game in Chilliwack versus the Chiefs.

Vernon has traded Defenceman Mitch Oliver to the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for 18 year old Forward Jesse Lansdell. The 5’11 206 pound Center had 44 points in 55 games last season and has recorded 5 points in the first 9 games of this year.

Lansdell is committed to Notre Dame for next season. Oliver leaves the Snakes after appearing in 117 regular season games over three seasons. The Kelowna product had 5 points in 12 games this season.

The Vipers have also added 20 year old Defenceman Connor Clouston from the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. Clouston who hails from Medicine Hat is a veteran of 158 Western Hockey League Games and brings size to the Vipers blue line at 6’3 205.

In Order to make room for Clouston the Vipers have released forward Tyler Maser.

The Vipers would like to wish Mitch and Tyler the best of luck while welcoming Jesse and Connor.

Both Lansdell and Clouston are expected to make their Viper Debuts tonight in Chilliwack. The Chiefs will be in Vernon on Wednesday October 19th.

  1. Oliver was listed as a Viper on the Vernon/Chilliwack box score for Saturday's game and yet the AJHL website listed him in a trade from Chilli to Bonneville on the previous day, Friday Oct 14th. The BCHL needs to "get in the game".

  2. I liked Mitchell Oliver, yes he was a little slow but I thought has improved alot from his first season with the Vipers. I thought hes played well this year, so I was a little shocked to see him traded. I noticed Chilliwack traded him to the AJHL. I have heard the name of Jesse Lansdell but because we only see Chilliwack once a season, I dont know anything about the kid. He put up some pretty good numbers with the Chiefs last year and looks like hes off to a good start to the season this year. Why would Chilliwack give up a kid like this? & only get Oliver in return? Hmmmm  Sad to see Tyler Maser get released, I thought he was a good 4th line muck and grinder. Hes a rookie so needed some development but added some grit and physical play to the Vipers. In Lansdell the Vipers get a second year forward who will add some scoring to the lineup. I like the sounds of this Clouston kid. Hes another big physical defenceman and a veteran 20 yr old the Vipers need. A veteran four year defenceman from the WHL will add a lot to the Vipers blueline. I like the fact the Vipers didn't have to give up anything as we signed him. With the Vipers inconsistency as of late, you have to wonder if Mark Ferner isn't done making trades?
