Sound Tigers Sign Ex Vernon Viper Connor Jones:

The American Hockey League (AHL) Bridgeport Sound Tigers have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Connor Jones. Connor along side his twin brother Kellen Jones landed a try out with the Sound Tigers, were both invited to the Sound Tigers Training Camp in late September. Kellen was released, sent back down to the ECHL Missouri Mavericks would later sign a Professional Try-Out Contract (PTO) with the American Hockey League (AHL) Bakersfield Condors on November 23rd 2015. Connor has two assists in 27 games this season with the Sound Tigers.

Connor & Kellen Jones both played their first pro-season last year with two different teams in two different leagues. Connor & Kellen started last season with the American Hockey League (AHL) Oklahoma City Barons also spent time with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Bakersfield Condors. The Condors moved to the AHL for the 2015-16 season. In 41 games last season with the Barons Connor collected (4-goals-6-assists-10-points) and in 27 games with the Condors picked up (10-goals-16-assists-26-points). In 48 games with the Barons Kellen collected (5-goals-9-assists-14-points) and in 27 games with the Condors recorded (7-goals-18-assists-25-points). After four years at Quinnipiac University, the Jones Twins signed their first pro contract with the Barons on April 3rd 2014. The Barons assigned Connor & Kellen to Bakersfield after Training camp last year before the pair went back and fourth between the ECHL & AHL. Connor & Kellen both played four years in Vernon (2006-2010). 

Connor played In 163 regular season games with the Vipers collecting (80-goals-118-assists-198-points) Connor also is the Vipers all-time franchise points leader (regular season & playoffs) with 228 & all-time franchise goals leader (regular season & playoffs) with 95.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that forward Connor Jones has agreed to terms on an American Hockey League contract.

Jones, 25, signed a Professional Tryout contract at the start of the season with the Sound Tigers. The Trail, B.C., native has played in 14 games and has two penalty minutes in 2015-16.

The 5-foot-9 Jones is in his second professional season after spending last year with the Oklahoma City Barons. In 60 career AHL games, Jones has recorded four goals and six assists for 10 points.

Prior to his professional career, Jones played at nearby Quinnipiac University for four seasons, serving as an alternate captain of the team from 2012-14. Jones’ grandfather, Terry, played for the New Haven Blades of the Eastern Hockey League from 1967 to 1969.
