The Prince George Spruce Kings are excited to announce that they have added 18 year old goalie Joseph McLeod from the Castlegar Rebels in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL). After three years with the Pursuit of Excellence program, McLeod joined Castlegar this year where in 21 games he has 13 wins, with five of those coming as shutouts.

The 6’2” goalie from Kelowna has the 3rd best goals against average in the league among goalies who have played at least 20 games. He also is tied for 2nd in the league for netminders with 15 games or more, with a .934 save percentage. Two years ago, McLeod was named to the U18 North American Prospects Hockey League All-Academic Team.  McLeod will have some familiar faces on the team, as he was in the Pursuit of Excellence program along with Jarod Hovde, and Cavin Tilsley who are currently forwards with the Spruce Kings.

“Joseph is a very good young goaltender who was having a great season with a strong program in Castlegar. He’s got good size, is technically strong, and competes hard. He’s also a well mannered young man who will fit in well with our group,” said Spruce Kings general manager Mike Hawes.
