Caps' Volpatti Likely Bound For Retirement

(9/17/15)

Volpatti indicated that he will most likely be bound for retirement as a result of the neck injury that limited him last season, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.Volpatti underwent spinal fusion surgery last September and was sidelined for about five months while recovering. While he was able to appear in a few games at the AHL and NHL level after returning, Volpatti said his range of motion was too compromised for him to play at a high level. The 30-year-old will turn his focus to building his family, as his wife is pregnant with the couple's first child.
