Cyclones Sign Former Vipers D-Man Weinstein:

The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Cincinnati Cyclones have signed former Vernon Vipers defenceman Steve Weinstein.

Weinstein finished his fourth and final year with Bentley Unoversity last year before signing an amateur try-out contract with the American Hockey League (AHL) Springfield Falcons on March 23rd 2015. Weinstein had just one assist in three games with the Falcons.   

Weinstein spent the past four seasons with Bentley University, In 145 games with the Bentley Falcons Weinstein collected (14-goals-91-assists-105-points).  Weinstein played three seasons in Vernon (2008-2011) collecting (10-goals-49-assists-59-points) in 153 regular season games with the Vipers.

Blueliner Comes to Cincy after 100-Point NCAA Career

CINCINNATI, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones have signed defenseman Steve Weinstein for the 2015-2016 season. He becomes the third player signed by the Cyclones this offseason.

“Steve is a strong skating, puck moving defenseman who has had great production throughout his whole college career,” said Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. “His skating ability and hockey IQ will translate well to the pro game, and we are excited to have a player with his character and abilities play for us this season.”

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Weinstein recently wrapped up a successful four-career at Bentley University, where he tallied 14 goals and 90 assists for 104 points in 145 career games. His best season came during his junior year in 2013-2014, where he ranked third on the team with 38 points (1G, 37 A). His 37 assists led the team.

Weinstein began his professional career with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons at the end of last season, dishing out an assist in three games played.
