The Vernon Vipers have acquired 18 year old forward Hunter Zandee from the West Kelowna Warriors in exchange for future considerations.

The product of Kelowna played in 42 games last season scoring 2 goals and adding 8 assists.

Zandee will report to Vernon next week for the start of training camp on August 21.

  1. Todays trade had me thinking.... With Training Camp just under two weeks away why would the Vipers bring in a kid whos turning 19 in October that scored twice last year and only put up ten points? I would think by now the Vipers would almost have their roster set for the upcoming season, other then maybe a few final decissions. I remember Hunter Zandee from last season but I dont recall him standing out in any of the Vipers-Warriors games, so Im not really too sure what kind of player Vernon is getting. When the Vipers traded Mackenzie Bauer to Cowichan a few weeks back for Future Considerations, I thought it would be to make room for a new recruit or another player coming in... Is Hunter Zandee taking his spot?

With Training Camp on the 21st the Vipers have yet to make any announcements regarding this years roster. Viper fans have no idea who any of the new recruits are and who will be filling in for the kids who left last season. Most if not all of the teams around the league have been super busy making all kinds of player & roster moves, getting their rosters set for the upcoming season, except for Vernon. Other then three trades the past few weeks, the Vipers have been very quiet not saying a word on any new player announcements regarding this years roster. Whats going on? Why are the Vipers keeping things so quiet this off season?

With not knowing any new players-recruits heading into Training Camp it makes things very interesting to see who will be at this years Camp and who the new recruits are. Guess Viper fans will have to wait until the 21st to find out whos in town and whos trying out for a spot on this years team.

Here is a look at the current Vipers roster that is posted on the BCHL website:
