Thunder Add Former Vipers Gore & Ullrich To Teams Season Ending Roster:

On June 16th the ECHL announced the Season-Ending Rosters as submitted by each of its member teams. The Adirondack Thunder have twenty players listed on their season ending roster list two are former Vernon Vipers.  Forward-captain Mike Ullrich & former Vernon Vipers goaltender Lucas Gore.

The Stockton Thunder was an affiliate team of the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League in their final two seasons, before the team was purchased by the Calgary Flames and relocated to Glens Falls, New York to and replaced by the Flames' American Hockey League team, the Stockton Heat. The Flames former American Hockey League team the Adirondack Flames has moved to the East Coast Hockey League and now known as the Adirondack Thunder. 24 players who played with the Thunder in Stockton last season will make the move to Adirondack, two are former Vipers Mike Ullrich & Lucas Gore.    

Gore spent the previous five seasons with the University of Regina before signing with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Stockton Thunder on March 5th 2015. In 7 games with the Thunder last year Gore went 2-4-1 with a 4.37 GAA

Gore played one season in Vernon (2007-08). In 27 games with the Vipers Gore went 14-8-1 with a 3.31 GAA before joining the Western Hockey League Chilliwack Bruins the following season.

Ullrich started last season with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Orlando Solar Bears before being traded to the Stockton Thunder on February 4th 2015.  Ullrich never played a game with the Thunder after contemplating his future after the trade to Stockton.  The Thunder suspended Ullrich for the remainder of the season for not reporting to the team after the trade from Orlando.

Ullrich was in his second season in Orlando before the trade to Stockton played with three different teams during the 2012-13 season. (South Carolina, Tulsa & Trenton).  Ullrich also spent time in the American Hockey League during the 201-13 season playing with Manchester & Iowa as well as a try-out with St. Johns.  Ullrich a free-agent signed with Orlando on July 1st 2013 before re-signing with the Solar Bears on June 17th 2014.  In 37 games last year with the Solar Bears Ullrich collected (9-goals-23-assists-32-points).

After three seasons at Sait (Southern AB Inst. of Tech) Ullrich played in three different leagues (East Coast Hockey League, American Hockey League & Central Hockey League from 2011-2015 played with six different teams (Tulsa, South Carolina, Trenton, Orlando, Manchester & Iowa).  In 228 semi-pro games Ullrich has collected (73-goals-85-assists-193-points). 

Ullrich played parts of two years in Vernon (2005-2007). Ullrich left the Vipers during the 2005-06 season before returning to Vernon the following season after a short stint with the WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes. In 103 games with the Vipers Ullrich collected (39-goals-92-assists-131-points).

ECHL ANNOUNCES SEASON-ENDING ROSTERS

The ECHL on Tuesday announced the Season-Ending Rosters as submitted by each of its Member Teams. 

Season-Ending Rosters may include up to 20 players. Season-Ending Rosters cannot include any players who did not sign an ECHL contract in 2014-15. 

Each team is entitled to reserve rights to a maximum of eight players from the list of 20 by extending a qualifying offer no later than June 30. Of the eight qualified players, no more than four can be veterans (260 regular season professional hockey games played as of the start of the 2015-16 season). Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded. Teams are not required to extend a qualifying offer to players who sign a contract prior to June 30. 

The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until Aug. 1 at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary or may elect to take no further action. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season. 

A team that extends a valid qualifying offer to a veteran player, or to a goaltender who has played more than 180 regular-season games, will retain the rights to that player until Aug. 1. After Aug. 1, if the veteran player or goaltender is not signed to a contract by the team, the veteran or goaltender shall be deemed a restricted free agent and shall be entitled to seek and secure offers of employment from other ECHL teams. Restricted free agents may not be traded. When a restricted free agent receives a contract offer from a team other than the team with the player’s rights and the restricted free agent wishes to accept the contract offer, the restricted free agent and the offering member must, within 24 hours, notify the ECHL, the team with the player’s rights and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association. The member with the player’s rights shall have seven days after the date it is notified to exercise its right to match the contract offer. 

If a restricted free agent is not signed to either an offer sheet or a contract by an ECHL team by Aug. 31, the player shall be deemed an unrestricted free agent.
