Former Vipers D-Man Hamilton Attended Boston Bruins Development Camp:

Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Mark Hamilton attended the Boston Bruins Development Camp this past week.  The Bruins Camp ran from July 14th-17th.

Hamilton played one season in Vernon (2013-14) but his season was cut short playing in just 24 games due to a season ending injury.  Hamilton collected (2-goals-3-assists-5-points).  Hamilton will be entering his second season at the University of Maine this coming season.

Bruins Announce 2015 Development Camp Roster

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Bruins announced today, July 8, the expected roster for their ninth annual Development Camp, which will take place at Ristuccia Arena (190 Main St, Wilmington, MA 01887). Development Camp will open on Tuesday, July 14, with the final session taking place on Friday, July 17.

On-ice practices are open to the public and to the media. Please note that the schedule and roster are subject to change.

The Development Camp roster features 37 players, including 24 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders. The roster includes 28 players within the Bruins organization, including all 10 selections from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Nine additional players will attend Bruins Development Camp on an invite basis. For more information on the invites, please see the notes below the roster.

2015 DEVELOPMENT CAMP INVITES

Frank Dichiara, 21, spent 2014-15 with the Yale University Bulldogs where he appeared in 33 collegiate contests racking up nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points (led the team), all of which were career highs. In total, the forward has played two seasons with Yale, competing in 65 games, accruing 13-23=36 totals. Prior to his collegiate career, Dichiara played for the Dubque Fighting Saints of the USHL (2012-13) where he posted 30 goals (third on the team) and 30 assists (fifth on the team) for 60 points (third on the team) with a plus-26 rating. Dichiara and B’s prospect Matt Benning were teammates while playing for Dubuque in 2012-13. The winger checks in at 6’2’’, 218 pounds and hails from Ronkonkoma, NY.

Boston University defenseman, Brien Diffley, joins camp after finishing his rookie season with the Terriers, where he appeared in 40 games and recorded one goal and 10 assists for 11 points with a plus-eight rating. Diffley was teammates with B’s prospect Matt Grzelcyk in 2014-15. In 2013-14, Diffley split time between Buckingham Browne & Nichols (USHS) and the Boston Jr. Bruins (USPHL Elite and Premier). With Buckingham Browne & Nichols, he tallied 3-10=13 totals in 27 games, while posting 2-3=5 totals with the Boston Jr. Bruins (USPHL Elite) in 11 matchups. Diffley also appeared in one game for the Boston Jr. Bruins of the USPHL Premier in 2013-14. The 6’2’’, 184-pound native of Burlington, MA turned 20 years old on July 8.

Zach Frye, a 6’1’’, 200-pound defenseman from Spokane, WA, completed his first season with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where he tallied 2-6=8 totals with 33 penalty minutes in 29 contests. Before joining the collegiate ranks, the 21-year-old skated for four seasons with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL (2010-14), where he recorded 13 goals and 32 assists for 45 points in 145 games.

Goaltender Michael Garteig finished up his third season with Quinnipiac University where he went 22-10-3 while posting a 2.03 goals against average with a .917 save percentage (career high) 36 games. In 2013-14, Garteig appeared in 40 matchups, where he earned a career-best 1.94 GAA with a .910 save percentage, yielding a 24-10-6 record. His rookie campaign at QU saw him play in five games, going 0-1-0 with a 2.03 GAA and .895 save %. The 23-year-old is a native of Prince George, BC and checks in at 6’1’’, 185-pounds.

Defenseman Mark Hamilton joins camp after participating in his first collegiate season with the University of Maine. In 39 games in his rookie season, the 21-year-old scored one goal and collected six assists. In 2013-14, 6’3’’ 220-pound native of Winthrop, MA, played for the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) where he appeared in 24 games and potted three goals and two assists with 28 penalty minutes.

Alex Iafallo, 21, completed his second season at the University of Minnesota – Duluth, where he notched eight goals and recorded 17 assists for 25 points with a plus-16 rating. In two seasons at University of Minnesota – Duluth, the 6’1’’, 185-pound native of Eden, NY has accrued 19-28=47 totals in 70 career games. Preceding his collegiate career, the forward skated for two seasons (2011-13) with the Fargo Force of the USHL where he recorded 37 goals and 38 assists for 75 points with a combined plus-45 rating.

Andrew Poturalski completed his first season with the University of New Hampshire in 2014-15 where he played in 40 games and racked up 14-15=29 totals. From 2011-14, the forward played three seasons for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL, appearing in 115 games while tallying 41-59=100 totals. In his final season in the USHL in 2013-14, Poturalski led the team in goals (27), assists (37) and points (64) in 60 games played. The 21-year-old Williamsville, NY native checks in at 5’10’’, 190-pounds.

23-year-old winger Brandon Tanev recently finished his third season with Providence College, where he collected 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points with a plus-17 rating. The 6’0’’, 180-pound Toronto, ONT native has accrued 16 goals and 29 assists in total with Providence College and won the National Championship in 2015. In 2011-12, Tanev skated for the Surrey Eagles (BCHL) posting 11-22=33 totals in 58 games and in 2010-11 he played for the Markham Waxers (OJHL), recording 16-26=42 totals.

Michael Vecchione, a 22-year-old native of Saugus, MA, has played for Union College the last two seasons, racking up 33 goals and 51 assists for 84 points during that span. Vecchione won the NCAA National Championship with Union in 2014. Prior to joining Union College, the 5’10’’, 195-pound forward skated for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL from 2011-13. In two seasons with the Storm, Vecchione registered 36 goals and 53 assists for 89 points in 112 games.

BRUINS & NORTHEAST PASSAGE & SEARS ADAPTIVE HOCKEY PROGRAM SLED HOCKEY CLINIC

WHAT: The Boston Bruins have teamed up with Northeast Passage & Sears Adaptive Hockey Program at Spaulding Adaptive Sports Centers to host a sled hockey clinic allowing children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in hockey. The children will work on the fundamentals of the sport in a safe and structured environment with Bruins prospects.

BRUINS PROSPECTS TO VISIT CHELMSFORD PUBLIC LIBRARY

WHAT: To kick-off the Boston Bruins Summer Reading Program “When You Read, You Score” a group of Bruins’ prospects will be at the Chelmsford Public Library. The prospects will be joined by local children and will read a story to the kids, do an arts and crafts project, participate in an outdoor physical activity and sign autographs.

WHAT: A group of Bruins’ prospects will visit LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Somerville with children from the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club.  The players and children will ride LEGO® rides, attend the Model Builder Academy, take a stroll through MINILAND and much more. At the conclusion of the event, the players will sign autographs for all of the kids in attendance.
