Former Viper ten Vaanholt Named NCAA Div. III Second-Team All-American:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Jarryd ten Vaanholt was named NCAA Div. III second-team all-American.

ten Vaanholt finished his third season at Elmira College.  The Vipers aquired ten Vaanholt and defenceman Justin Elliott from the SJHL Kindersley Klippers on August, 2nd 2011 for forward Dane Muench & defenceman Phillip Patenaude.  ten Vaanholt attended the Vipers training camp played in just two exhibition games before the Vipers traded the twenty year old forward to Victoria on September, 19th 2011 for the playing rights of forward Pearce Eviston just three days before the start of the 2011 regular season.

Over his last two seasons in the BCHL, Jarryd ten Vaanholt showed he was a dangerous offensive player and now three seasons into his NCAA career at Elmira College, it's still the same and now he's got a nice line to add to his resume.

ten Vaanholt was named last week as an NCAA Div. III second-team all-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

The West Vancouver, BC native led the Soaring Eagles in goals with 12 and assists with 23. His 35 points were a career high at the college level. ten Vaanholt was named a ECAC West Player of the Year and an all-conference first team pick.

The 23-year-old scored in 11 consecutive games to start the season and wound up with nine multi-point games on the campaign.

For his NCAA career, ten Vaanholt has recorded 29 goals and 47 assists for 76 points in 73 games.

In the BCHL with Salmon Arm, Victoria and Prince George, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward totaled 54 goals and 64 assists for 118 points in 123 games.
