Vipers Alumni Tambellini Named WHL Player Of The Week:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Adam Tambellini was named the Western Hockey Leagues Player of the Week.  Tambellini in his second season with the Calgary Hitmen played in 71 regular season games recording (47-goals-39-assists-86-points) was tenth in WHL scoring this season.

Tambellini attended the New York Rangers Prospect Development Camp in July was one of twenty players reassigned from the Rangers Training Camp in September. The Rangers reassigned Tambellini to the Hitmen on September 24th 2014.

Tambellini left the University of North Dakota last season for the Western Hockey League joining the Calgary Hitmen in early January after being acquired in a trade with the Portland Winterhawks. Tambellini played a season and a half in Vernon (2011-13) before being traded to Surrey on January 10th 2013 along with future considerations (Michael Roberts) for Mason Blacklock & future considerations (Jordan Klimek and Demico Hannoun). In 91 regular season games with the Vipers Tambellini collected (49-goals-46-assists-95-points). Tambellini was drafted 64th overall in the 3rd Round by the New York Rangers at the 2013 NHL Draft.

Tambellini named Denny's WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Calgary Hitmen forward Adam Tambellini is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 6th, 2015. 

Tambellini collected 11 points (6g-5a) in four games to help the Calgary Hitmen pick up a pair of wins in their Round 1 series against the Kootenay ICE in the 2015 WHL Playoffs.

On Tuesday, March 31st against the ICE, Tambellini notched a hat trick to lead the Hitmen to an 8-7 overtime victory in Game 3. The following night, Tambellini recorded four points (1g-3a) to lead the Hitmen to a Game 4 victory over the ICE by a score of 7-2 while also claiming second star honours. On Friday, April 3rd, Tambellini tallied a pair of assists while earning third star honours in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Kootenay ICE in Game 5. The following night, Tambellini scored two goals and earned third star honours as the Hitmen dropped Game 6 to the ICE by a score of 4-2.

The 20-year-old Edmonton, AB native gathered 86 points (47g-39a) while playing in 71 games this season. The 6’3”, 191 lb forward is in his second WHL campaign with Calgary and has amassed 125 points (64g-61a) in 102 career WHL regular season contests. In 12 career WHL Playoff games, Tambellini has recorded 22 points (12g-10a).

The WHL has also nominated Carter Hart of the Everett Silvertips for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week award. Hart, a 1998-born netminder from Sherwood Park, AB, recorded two wins last week in the Silvertips’ Round 1 match-up against the Spokane Chiefs. On Wednesday, April 1st, Hart turned aside 45 shots in Game 3 against the Chiefs to earn a 2-1 double overtime victory and claim first star honours. On Friday, April 3rd, Hart had another strong performance as he stopped 34 of 35 shots to lift the Silvertips to a 3-1 win in Game 4 over the Chiefs while earning first star honours. The following night, Hart made 39 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Chiefs in Game 5.
