Cents forward Schiavo comes up clutch and takes POW honours

Merritt Centennials forward John Schiavo has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 16, the league announced Monday.
Schiavo helped the Cents to a four-win week and notched five points in the process. The native of East Patchogue, N.Y. scored the game-winner on the power play in a 2-1 road win over Trail and followed up next game with 1st Star honours for a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win in West Kelowna. He concluded his week with another power-play game-winner and another 1st Star in a 6-4 win over Cowichan Valley.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound 20-year-old continues to lead the Cents in scoring with 15 goals and 10 assists on the campaign.
