Ferner Returns
Monday, September 22, 2014 - Submitted by Vernon Staff
The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Ferner as their new Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations. Mark comes back to the Vipers, where he had previously coached for four seasons, leading the team to three straight Royal Bank Cup appearances including two wins in 2009 and 2010.
Viper’s President and Governor, Duncan Wray states," After reviewing several extremely well qualified candidates, the file that kept coming up to the top of the pile was Mark's. He is familiar with the organization, has worked closely with both Todd Miller and Kevin Kraus and will therefore fit seamlessly into the program. I am very pleased to welcome Mark back into the fold, and I look forward to working with him again”

This is huge news for Viper fans and the team! Bringing back Mark Ferner is just what the Vipers need!
ReplyDeleteThe past three seasons have been pretty dismal, missing the playoffs two years in a row before having a decent season hosting the RBC Cup last year.
The Vipers havent been the same team since Mark Ferner left and the teams record showed the past three seasons. Attendance went down the past three seasons due to the poor product on the ice.
The Vipers need a veteran experienced coach that can bring the best out of his players and is abble to get the players and team to improve as the season goes along.
Viper fans are spoiled with previous winning teams-six National Championships. We dont expect to win every game but expect to see a good game each night and be competetive every night.
Duncan Wray made a smart move by bringing back Mark Ferner. Ferner is a proven winner at this level and in this league and will get the Vipers organization back to the top in no time.
Welcome back Mark!!
