Vipers Cut Down To 26 Players
Written by 107.5 Kiss FM Tuesday, 02 September 2014
Vernon Vipers second pre-season test will come Friday in Salmon Arm, and head coach and GM Jason Williamson likes what he's seen in camp so far.
"I thought it went really well. Our guys competed, the players we expected to be good coming into camp, were good and we had a few surprises, so all in all, it's been good so far," says Williamson.
The Vipers -- who cut down from 60 to 26 players on the weekend -- beat Penticton 5-3 in their first exhibition game Saturday at Kal Tire Place.
"We're down to 15 forwards, nine defencemen and two goalies. We have to make two more cuts up front and two more on defence," says Williamson.
The Vipers open the regular season September 19 against the Cowichan Capitals at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.
I wish that the Vipers would communicate to us just who are the 26 remaining players. Go to their web site and they have 7 players, including Liam Coughlin and Michael McNicholas. On top of that, they still have David Robinson and Kris Mallette shown as the assistant coaches. It's so far out of date. And they're trying to sell tickets to the public. It takes very little effort to update the website even monthly.
ReplyDeleteNeither Coughlin nor McNicholas will be returning. Morning Star is as out of touch as the Viper website. The defense is already picked. Shiplo, Guenther, J. Coughlin, Booth, Emilio, Citron and Feeney. Forwards not so easy to determine because so many need to be replaced. Count on TJ, Fiddler, Latina, Tanev, Wagner, McDonald, Aidworth, Williamson, Caton and Hora. Pick 3 more out of the bunch who skated Monday.
ReplyDeleteWell it appears the roster is getting down to the nitty-gritty.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to know who is on the roster. I agree with Bob from "p". Upgrade the website.
