Former Vernon Viper forwards Braden Pimm & Marcus Basara attended the Washington Capitals development camp in early July.
Basara finished his first season with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks last year playing in 37 games picking up (12-goals-14-assists-26-points). Basara played parts of the two seasons in Vernon (2010-2012) before being traded along with Connor Hartley & future considerations to the AJHL Okotoks Oilers on November, 28th 2011 for Ben Gamache. Pimm finished his fourth and final season at Northeastern University last season before signing a amateur-tryout contract (ATO) with the American Hockey League (AHL) Milwaukee Admirals on March 27th 2014 before becoming a free-agent at the end of the season. In 37 games last season with the Huskies Pimm recorded (20-goals-17-assists-37-points). Pimm went pointless in 9 games as a rookie with Milwaukee. Pimm played three years in Vernon (2007-2010). In 179 regular season games with the Vipers Pimm collected (64-goals-97-assists-161-points).

Capitals open development camp

With Barry Trotz and his new coaching staff watching from perches above the ice, the Capitals’ 2014 Prospect Development Camp began today at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
Forty-four players, including top 2014 draft picks Jakub Vrana and Vitek Vanacek hit the ice for a week of training and instruction.
