Both teams will be facing each other for the first time since the 2010 RBC Cup Final in Dauphin Manitoba, where the Vipers come away with a 8-1 win winning their second straight National Championship. The Vernon Vipers snapped a five game losing streak going back to the BCHL League Finals after a 6-4 victory last night over the SJHL Yorkton Terriers. The Vipers improved to 1-1 host the MJHL Dauphin Kings in the teams third game of the RBC Cup. This is the third meeting ever between these two teams after the Vipers & Kings met at the 2010 RBC Cup in Dauphin, Manitoba where Vernon come away with a 8-1 win in the RBC Cup final over the Kings to win their sixth National Championship. The Vipers are making their tenth appearance at the Centennial Cup-Royal Bank Cup as this years host team. This is the second time the City of Vernon has hosted the National Championship as the 1990 Vernon Lakers hosted and won the 1990 Centennial Cup. Vernon is going for their seventh National Championship. The Vipers will play their final round robin game of the tournament Thursday when they host the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.

The MJHL Western Canada Cup host Dauphin Kings enter tonight's RBC Cup game atop the RBC Cup standings at 2-0. The Kings are playing in their second Royal Bank Cup after hosting the 2010 RBC Cup. The Kings are coming off a 4-3 overtime win Sunday night over the Carleton Place Canadians look to go 3-0 before playing Yorkton Thursday.
The Dauphin Kings are a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey team from Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada. They are members of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), a part of the Canadian Junior A Hockey League (CJHL) and Hockey Canada. The Kings were established in 1967 and now play at the Credit Union Place which opened in the fall 2005 with a capacity of 2,500.
In the fall of 1967 Dauphin, along with the Selkirk Steelers, Portage Terriers and Fort Garry Frontiersmen, started the Central Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
After years of trying to secure an MJHL franchise Dauphin finally got its wish when the CMJHL and the MJHL merged for the 1968–69 season.
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is a Junior 'A' ice hockey league operating in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The MJHL is one of eleven Junior 'A' Hockey Leagues in Canada and is a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).
The MJHL consists of 11 teams in two divisions, five in the Addison Division and six in the Sher-Wood Division. Each team plays 60 games during the regular season with ten teams qualifying for the playoffs. The fourth and fifth place teams in each division play a best-of-three wildcard series, with the winner being awarded the fourth seed in their division. From there, the remaining three rounds—the division semi-finals, division finals, and league finals—are all best-of-seven. The winner of the final series is awarded the Turnbull Cup as MJHL champion.[1]
The winner of the MJHL playoffs (Turnbull Cup) continues on to play in the Western Canada Cup tournament, where it competes against the champions from Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia for one of two berths in the Royal Bank Cup, the Junior "A" National Championship Tournament. From 1971 to 2012, the Manitoba champion would play in the Anavet Cup, a best-of-seven series against the champion of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, to determine who would play for the Royal Bank Cup.
The League has a rich tradition, first year of operation was the 1918–19 season, making it the oldest Junior League in Canada.[2] At first the junior league was known as the Winnipeg and District League, until 1931 when it became the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. In its first year, there were nine teams in two divisions. The teams included the Winnipeg Pilgrims, Elmwood, Grand Trunk Pacific, Winnipeg Tigers, Young Men's Lutheran Club, Winnipeg Argonauts, Selkirk Fishermen, Weston, and Winnipeg Monarchs. The first season consisted of each team playing six games. Over the years, more than 200 MJHL players have gone on to the National Hockey League (NHL), and 11 of those MJHL graduates have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
