Wild Sign Former Vipers Captain Ullrich To Pofessional Tyout:
The American Hockey League (AHL) Iowa Wild have signed former Vernon Vipers forward-captain Mike Ullrich to professional tryout agreements (PTO).
Ullrich is in his first season with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Orlando Solar Bears. Ullrich was invited to a pro tryout with the American Hockey League (AHL) St. John's IceCaps in September before being released on September 30th 2013 returning to Orlando & then signed a professional tryout agreement with the American Hockey League (AHL) Manchester Monarchs on November 15th 2013 before being released after playing in three games.
Ullrich played for three different teams last season (South Carolina, Tulsa & Trenton) before signing with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Orlando Solar Bears on July, 1st 2013.
Ullrich become an unrestricted free agent over the off season after the ownership group of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Trenton Titans pulled the franchise out of the ECHL. According to a statement from the ECHL, all Titans players signed to ECHL contracts, except those owed as future considerations, are unrestricted free agents.
Ullrich started last season with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) South Carolina Stingrays after signing a contract over the summer. Ullrich left the Stingrays before signing with the Central Hockey League (CHL) Tulsa Oilers on November, 7th 2012. The Stingrays suspended Ullrich after leaving the club but then took Ullrich off suspension before trading the rights of Ullrich to the ECHL Trenton Titans for future considerations on January, 18th 2013. In five games with the Stingrays Ullrich collected 1 goal & 4 assists. The Oilers then suspended and then deleted Ullrich from the clubs roster on January, 17th 2013 after Ullrich left the Oilers for the ECHL Trenton Titans. In 29 games with the Oilers Ullrich collected (7-12-19). In 26 games last year with Trenton Ullrich collected (15-14-29).
Ullrich played parts of two years in Vernon (2005-2007) Ullrich left the Vipers during the 2005-06 season before returning to Vernon the following season after a short stint with the WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes. In 103 games with the Vipers Ullrich collected (39-92-131).

Solar Bears Receive Forwards from AHL Affiliates
Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that F Taylor Matson (Iowa) and F Mike Duco (Toronto) have been assigned to the team from the American Hockey League while F Mike Ullrich has been loaned to Iowa and forward C.J. Severyn has been loaned to the Utica Comets (AHL).
Matson was recalled by the Iowa Wild on January 11 and has since appeared in three games for Iowa, earning an assist. He has played six games with the Solar Bears this season, collecting three points on two goals and one assist, including the game-winning goal for the Solar Bears on January 3 in Orlando's 6-5 win over the Utah Grizzlies. In 29 games with Iowa, Matson has tallied three goals and added an assist for four points.
Duco has appeared in four games with the Solar Bears, earning one assist, and has tallied three points on one goal and two assists in seven games with the Marlies this season. He has played 18 games in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks (2011-12) and Florida Panthers (2009-11) earning two assists and 65 PIM. Duco has skated in 257 games in his AHL career, scoring 55 goals and adding 50 assists along with 459 PIM.
Ullrich has appeared in 31 games for the Solar Bears this season, scoring nine goals to go along with 19 assists for 28 points. He skated in three games for the Manchester Monarchs, his first career AHL appearance, earlier this season, collecting one goal. The Banff, AB, native has played in 73 games in his ECHL career, averaging nearly a point-per-game with 68 points on 26 goals and 42 assists.
Severyn was returned to the Solar Bears on Saturday after playing four games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, but has not appeared in a game for Orlando since coming back from the AHL. In 19 games with the Solar Bears, Severyn has 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. He has collected four PIM in 10 career AHL contests.
The Solar Bears return from a four game road trip to host the Gwinnett Gladiators on Thursday, January 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 26, against the Florida Everblades at 3:00 p.m. Orlando will wear special pink jerseys for both games as part of Hockey Fights Cancer, and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative puck, courtesy of Florida Hospital, on Sunday.

Iowa Adds Broc Little and Mike Ullrich
Des Moines, IA – Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Friday that the team has signed forwards Broc Little and Mike Ullrich to professional tryout agreements (PTO). Mill also announced the team has assigned forward Taylor Matson to the Orlando Solar Bears, Iowa’s ECHL affiliate.
Ullrich was among the scoring leaders for the Orlando Solar Bears at the time of his recall, posting nine goals and 19 assists for 28 points in 31 games played. His 19 assists led the Bears and he was second with a .90 points per game average. The Banff, AB native played in three AHL games earlier this season with Manchester, scoring his first AHL goal. The third-year pro has spent the majority of his career in the ECHL and CHL.
Little joins the Wild after playing in 20 AHL games for Springfield this season, scoring three goals and totaling eight points. He spent the last two seasons in Sweden, playing for AIK (SEL) and Vasteras IK (Swe-1). During the 2012-13 season, the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder scored 16 times and totaled 46 points in 55 games for AIK. In 2011-12, he scored 35 goals and totaled 66 points in 51 games for Vasteras IK. Little played four seasons at Yale University from 2007-11, scoring 72 goals and racking up 142 points in 131 ECAC games.
Matson returns to Orlando, where he played in six games with two goals and three points earlier this season. Matson also has played in 29 games for Iowa, scoring three goals and adding an assist.
Iowa continues a three-game homestand on Friday with the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday at 12:35 p.m. Friday’s game includes a PB&J Drive, presented by Zeroez. Fans are asked to bring jars of peanut butter or jelly to donate for Movethefood.org. Those who donate receive a voucher for a ticket to an upcoming Iowa Wild home game. Friday is also $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. Every Friday, fans (21 and over) may purchase $2.00 ten-ounce domestic drafts through the first period of play. Saturday is the first matinee home game with the 12:35 p.m. faceoff. The team celebrates Kids Winterfest with plenty of kids’ activities on the concourse and the first 5,000 fans receive ThunderSticks. It is also a Subway Family Four Pack Night. Fans may purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four Subway BOGO coupons for as low as $44.
