Lets take a look at the Vernon Vipers:

The Vernon Vipers return from the Christmas break will play their first game of 2014 make their second visit of the season to the Cominco Arena.  The Vipers won their last visit to Trail come away with a 4-1 victory on November 22nd 2013.  The Vipers have won four straight over Trail.  Vernon hasnt played since before the holidays are coming off a 7-2 loss to the visiting Powell River Kings on December 21st.  The Vipers have two wins in their last five games are 6-3-1-0 in their last ten games.   Vernon sits in 2nd place two points up on 3rd place West Kelowna and five points back of first place Penticton.  The Vipers went 5-3-0-0 in the month of December will play six of eleven games in January at home.

Lets take a look at the Trail Smoke Eaters:

The Trail Smoke Eaters finished off 2013 with a 4-3 overtime loss to the visiting West Kelowna Warriors Monday wrap up a two game home stand vs Vernon tonight before heading to West Kelowna Saturday night.  The Smokies have lost thirteen in a row and have just one win in their last thirty games.  Trail has been outscored 35-16 in their last five games.  The Smoke Eaters have lost six straight at home and are 0-9-0-1 in their last ten games.  Trail sits in 6th place in the Interior Division and last overall in league standings with just seven wins.  The Smoke Eaters went 0-9-0-1 in the month of December will play seven of ten games on the road in the month of January.  Trails last win at home was a 3-2 overtime victory over the visiting Salmon Arm Silverbacks on November 16th 2013.  The Smoke Eaters have given up 173 goals wich is second lowest in the league behind the Chilliwack Chiefs.
