Royals Place Former Viper Santana On Injured Reserve:

The 2013 Kelly Cup Champion East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Reading Royals have placed former Vernon Vipers forward Ryan Santana on the 21-day injured reserve.   Santana finished his fourth and final year at Boston University before signing with the Royals on August 6th 2013. Santana played one season in Vernon (2008-2009) In 56 games with the Vipers Santana collected (12-13-25).

Royals deal Shea to Toledo

The Reading Royals traded the rights to defenseman Bobby Shea to Toledo for future considerations Wednesday.

Shea, who played 15 games in the playoffs during Reading's run to the Kelly Cup last season, signed an AHL contract with Rockford during training camp. He was recalled by Rockford Wednesday.

By trading Shea, the Royals cleared a roster spot for defenseman Aaron Gens, who was claimed off waivers from Evansville Tuesday.

In other moves, the Royals placed forwards Ian Watters and defenseman Mike Banwell on reserve. Forward Ryan Santana was put on 21-day injured reserve.
