Former Vernon Lakers Forward Glowa Wont Be Back With Phantoms:

Former Vernon Lakers forward Jeff Glowa wont
be back with the EPIHL Peterborough Phantoms this season after failing to come to terms with the hockey club.  The Phantoms are a British ice hockey team that play in a semi-professional English Premier ice hockey league.  Glowa spent the past three seaons with the Phantoms after playing six years with the EIHL Hull Stingrays where he racked up over 300 points. Glowa played parts of the two seasons in Vernon (1993-1995) with the Lakers before being traded to the Cowichan Valley Capitals during the 1994-95 season.

Phantoms’ finances may not stretch to bringing captain Jeff Glowa back.

Kynaston is keen to bring the veteran Canadian forward back to the city for a fourth successive season, but admits it may not happen.

Kynaston said: “I’ve been in contact with Jeff.

“He is a great guy and I have a lot of time and respect for him.

“As things stand our budget may not stretch to bringing him back but I would like to think there is something we can do.

“We’ll have to wait and see how things pan out.

“We have to get the right players for the team at the right price.

“We are acutely aware that the teams who finished around us last season have splashed out a lot of money this summer, but we are not going to over-stretch ourselves.”

Phantoms have received a sponsorship boost with Cross Keys Homes continuing their backing of the club for an eighth successive season.

As part of the deal Cross Keys Homes’ tenants’ children are able to participate in a free monthly ice skating session with the Phantoms’ players to learn more about the sport.

Phantoms coach gutted Glowa is a no-goer

July, 13th 2013

Peterborough Phantoms have today (July 12 2013) confirmed, as expected, that skipper Jeff Glowa will not return for the 2013/14 season.

The Canadian veteran has not been able to agree terms with club chiefs.

Glowa (37) scored 79 goals and registered more than 200 total points during three years in a Phantoms jersey.

Head coach Jon Kynaston said: “I would like to thank Jeff for his commitment and what he brought to the club during his time here.

“It’s disappointing he won’t be back and he leaves a big hole to fill.

“It goes without saying that I wish Jeff the very best for the future.”

Confirmation of Glowa’s exit means Phantoms still have two import forward slots to fill.

The club’s only offensive import so far is Slovakian ace Frantisek Zubek who has signed earlier this week.
