Former Vipers Knisley & Leidl Named To 2012-13 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team:

Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Mike Leidl and former Vernon Vipers forward John Knisley were two of the 217 athletes named to the 2012-13 ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team. 

Leidl finished his fourth and final season at Colgate University.  Leidl played just less then half a season in Vernon (2008-09) after coming over from the Burnaby Express on January 7th 2009 for future considerations.  Leidl went pointless in 17 games with the Vipers.

Knisley finished his first season at Cornell University.  Knisley played two years in Vernon (2010-2012) playing in 106 games with the Vipers.  Knisley collected (22-48-70).

2012-13 All-Academic Team Comprises 217 Student-Athletes

ALBANY, N.Y. - Two hundred seventeen student-athletes representing the ECAC Hockey’s 12 men’s programs were named to the 2012-13 ECAC Hockey All-Academic team. One hundred twenty-one of this year’s student-athletes were also named to the team last year, 70 have the distinction of receiving the honor the last three seasons, and 26 received the recognition over the last four years. Of the 12 institutions, Rensselaer led the way with 24 honorees, followed by Quinnipiac with 23, then Princeton and Yale with 21 and Union with 20.

Players are eligible for the All-Academic team if they earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a GPA over 3.00 over the past three semesters.
