Former Vipers Goaltender Young Joins Generals At New England Pro AM Pre-Draft Showcase:

New England's Pro-Am Hockey annual Pre-draft showcase was played May 3rd 2013-May 5th 2013.  Former Vernon Vipers goaltender Joe Young played for the Boston Generals (Black). The New England Pro-Am started it's first Pre-Draft Showcase back in 1989, a chance for players that are annually eligible for the NHL Entry Draft. It is now a highly successful annual event held in Boston each May.  Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Marc Hetnik has also played in the Pre-Draft Showcase in previous years.  Hetnik is from the Massachusetts area.

Young finished his first season with the EJHL Boston Junior Bruins. Young played in 11 games this season posting a 2.71 GAA Young was recruited by the Vipers winning the backup position this season with the Vipers over Danny Todosychuk. Todosychuk was released. After playing in just two games going 0-1 with a 4.35 GAA Young was put on the trade block while the Vipers brought back Todosychuk after playing in the KIJHL. No official word on if Young was traded or released by Vernon before signing with the Bruins.  Young has committed to Union College for 2014-15.

Boston Generals (Black) Roster

Joe Young and the Generals opened the Showcase on Friday, May 3rd defeating Team Canada West (Europe) 4-1.  Young allowed just a single goal picking up the victory.

The Boston Generals went to 2-0 in the Showcase with a 2-0 win over Superskills on Saturday, May 4th.  Young was on the bench as Max Barr collected the shutout and win between the pipes.
