Jets Claim Former Viper Forward Santorelli Off Waivers:

The NHL Winnipeg Jets have claimed former Vernon
Vipers forward Mike Santorelli off waivers yesterday from the Florida Panthers.  Santorelli spent this season with the American Hockey League's (AHL) San Antonio Rampage & Florida Panthers.  Santorelli was entering his third season with the Panthers.  In 7 games with San Antonio Santorelli collected (2-3-5).  In 24 games this season with Florida Santorelli has (2-1-3).  In 60 games last year with the Panthers Santorelli collected (9-2-11). Santorelli was drafted by the Nashville Predators in round 6 178th overall at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft before being traded to the Florida Panthers on August, 5th 2010. Santorelli played one season in Vernon (2003-2004). In 60 regular season games with the Vipers Santorelli collected (43-53-96).

The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce they have claimed forward Mike Santorelli off waivers. Santorelli was placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers and will now report to the Jets.

Santorelli, 27, has played in 24 games with the Florida Panthers this season. In that time, the Vancouver, B.C. native has recorded three points (2G, 1A) and two penalty minutes. He has played in 198 career NHL games between Nashville and Florida for 58 career points (33G, 25A) and 50 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round, 178th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
