Grizzlies Name Former Viper Turner Lawson Assistant Captain:

The Victoria Grizzlies have named former Vernon Vipers defenceman Turner Lawson one of three Assistant Captains this season.  In late July the Grizzlies announced that Lawson was traded to Victoria as part of the future considerations deal that involved the Vipers-Grizzlies trade last year where the Vipers aquired Grizzlies captain Sean Robertson for future considerations.  Lawson played two games with the Vipers as an "AP" during the 2010-11 season before joining the Vipers full time last year.  In 52 games with Vernon Lawson collected (1-3-4).

Introducing your Assistant Captains for the 2012/13 season!

Thursday, 6 September 2012

Expected to provide leadership on and off the ice, get the boys pump up in the dressing room and a ear to lend to the rookies. Your Grizzlies Assistant Captains for the 2012/13 season backing up Captain Zach Urban are:

# 16 - Brett Hartskamp: A 20 year old vet and a tireless worker. Brett, is a forward who will show his leadership on the ice, create chances, battle for the puck and run the engine room for the Grizzlies this season.

#24 - DJ Jones: A 20 yr old in his third BCHL season, the native of Plymouth Minn, will add his RBC Cup winning experience to the Grizzlies defence. Jones, a smaller D-man who plays bigger than his size, will add leadership and confidence to the Grizzlies roster this season.

#20 - Turner Lawson: An 18 yr old, who was acquired in the Sean Robertson trade and in preseason was a spark plug forward that hit anything that moved in an opposition jersey. A power forward style player, who should elevate his game to the next level in his second full year in the BCHL.
