Americans Re-Assign Three as Season Draws Near

Sep 17, 2012

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has reassigned goaltender Luke Lee-Knight and forwards Dallin Wolf and Dylan Schellenberg.  The move is effective immediately and reduces the club roster to 27 players (16 forwards, 9 defensemen and 2 goaltenders).

Lee-Knight, a 19-year-old from Calgary, Alberta, was a Main Camp Invite by Tri-City after spending the 2011-12 season split between the Spokane Chiefs and Prince Albert Raiders.  Combined, Lee-Knight appeared in 22 WHL games last season, compiling a 3.18 goals against average and a 0.841 save percentage to go along with a 2-4-2-1 record.  With his next stop still to be determined, Lee-Knight departs Tri-City after appearing in two pre-season games and going 0-1 with a 5.98 goals against average and a 0.830 save percentage.

Meanwhile, Wolf, an 18-year-old left wing who was listed by Tri-City in July of 2012, appeared in 4 exhibition games with Tri-City, going without a point and collecting 13 penalty minutes.  Wolf will return to the KIJHL’s Kimberley Dynamiters for a second season, where he played in 39 games and collected 6 goals, 14 points and 135 penalty minutes last year.

Schellenberg, a native of Drumheller, Alberta, appeared in five games for the Americans this pre-season, going without a point while amassing 18 penalty minutes and a minus-4 rating in the process.  The 19-year-old right wing was also a main camp invite of Tri-City after spending the 2011-12 season with the Drumheller Dragons and Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  Schellenberg combined to play in 35 AJHL games last season, collecting a goal and 4 points to go along with 86 penalty minutes.

With the exhibition season now behind them, the Americans will turn their focus towards a home opening doubleheader weekend, which kicks off this Saturday, September 22 at the Toyota Center.  It will be a rematch of two playoff opponents from 2012, as the Spokane Chiefs visit on Saturday before the Portland Winterhawks enter the Toyota Center on Sunday.  Game times are 7:05 and 5:05 p.m. respectively.  Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer outlets or online at ticketmaster.com.
