Stars Release Former Vernon Viper Cam Brodie:

The AHL Texas Stars have released former Vernon Vipers defenseman Cameron Brodie from a PTO (professional tryout agreement) after playing in three games with the Stars. Brodie signed with the Stars back on February, 23rd 2012. Brodie played parts of one season in Vernon (2008-2009) after being aquired from the Coquitlam Express at the BCHL trade deadline.

Cameron Brodie made his AHL debut and suited up in three games for Texas without collecting a point. The second-year pro will return to Stockton, where he spent the first 43 games of the year in the ECHL. In his time with the Thunder, Brodie totaled five points (all assists) and 54 penalty minutes. He also spent his rookie season with Stockton in 2010-11, scoring two goals and totaling 12 points in 60 games played. Prior to turning pro, the 23-year old played junior hockey in the BCHL from 2004-09 and one year at the University of British Columbia in 2009-10.

Cameron Brodie Returns from Texas Stars of AHL

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced defenseman Cameron Brodie (BROH-dee) has been returned from his professional tryout agreement with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Brodie, 23, will be available to make his return to the Thunder lineup tonight at 6:05 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com), when Stockton visits the Colorado Eagles at Budweiser Events Center.


The 6-foot-1 and 210 pound defenseman skated in three games with the Stars and earned four penalty minutes. He made his AHL debut against Houston on Feb. 24.

This season, Brodie has collected five assists and 54 penalty minutes in 43 games with the Thunder.

After skating with the San Jose Sharks in the YoungStars Tournament in Penticton, B.C. he suited up in 60 games with Stockton as a rookie in 2010-11, compiling 12 points (2g-10a), 51 penalty minutes and a +7 rating.
