Havoc Activate Former Vernon Viper Mark Sibbald Off Suspension:

The SPHL Huntsville Havoc announced February, 13th 2012 that the team has activated goaltender Mark Sibbald from the team suspension list and placed goaltender Matt Hache on waivers.

Sibbald spent the past three seasons with the Havoc before being suspended and then released back on December, 8th 2011. Sibbald then signed with the CHL Bloomington Blaze on December, 10th 2011 before being waived on December, 30th 2011. The CHL Allen Americans signed Sibbald back on January, 11th before trading the veteran goaltender to the CHL Dayton Gems for future considerations on January, 18th 2012. Sibbald has played for three out of the four teams this season (Huntsville, Bloomington, Allen & Dayton).

Sibbald played two years in Vernon (2003-2005) going 35-16-3 in 59 regular season games with the Vipers.

SIBBALD ACTIVATED FROM SUSPENSION

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Huntsville Havoc head coach, Randy Murphy, announced today that the team has activated goaltender Mark Sibbald from the team suspension list and placed goaltender Matt Hache on waivers.

“We are extremely excited to have Mark back,” Murphy said. “We are hoping he will pick up right where he left off and we expect he and (Kevin) Beech to bring some stability to our play in net.”


Sibbald played in 10 games earlier this season for the Havoc and went 4-4-2 with a 2.67 goals against average and 91.6 save percentage. He has played in 63 games for the Havoc over the past three seasons, going 33-16-5 with a 2.65 goals against average and 91.3 save percentage.

“I am glad to be heading back to Huntsville where I am very comfortable playing,” Sibbald said. “It has been a great two and half years playing there. The fans are fantastic and I just want to come in and contribute any way that I can.”

Sibbald was named the 2010-11 SPHL Goaltender of the Year. Since leaving the Havoc, he has hopped around the Central Hockey League with the Allen Americans, Dayton Gems and Bloomington Blaze.

The Havoc travel to Southaven, Mississippi tomorrow night to battle the RiverKings before heading to Fayetteville and Knoxville over the weekend. They return home to Breland Homes Ice on Tuesday, February 21st to take on the Knoxville.

  2. Yes great to see Mark back in Huntsville. He didnt really play much in the CHL and has done very well in the past with the Havoc.
