Former Vernon Vipers forward, Brad Preistlay & the Powell River Regals won the 2012 Savage Cup Saturday with a 3-1 victory over former Vernon Vipers forward, Aaron Schepers, goaltender, Kirby Halcrow & the Fort St. John Flyers to sweep the best of five series 3-0. The Regals now await the winner of the Alberta final between Stony Plain Eagles and Horse Lake Thunder.
Aaron Schepers played one season in Vernon (2004-2005) before being traded the following season to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. In 44 regular season games with the Vipers Schepers collected (5-4-9).

Kirby Halcrow played parts of the past two seasons in Vernon (2010-2012) after coming over in a trade with the Quesnel Millionaires back on December 1st 2010 for defenceman, Elliot Richardson & goaltender, Bryton Udy & future considerations. In 66 regular season games with the Vipers Halcrow went (34-30-2) with two shutouts.

Brad Preistlay played one season in Vernon (1999-2000) before leaving the Vipers during the season for the WHL Portland Winterhawks. In 47 regular season games with the Vipers Preistlay collected (2-10-12).
