Former Viper Goaltender Hammond Named Papa Johns Athlete Of The Week:

Former Vernon Vipers goaltender, Andrew Hammond has been named Papa John's Athlete Of The Week. Hammond played two years in Vernon (2007-2009) after coming over in a trade with the Surrey Eagles. Hammond is in his third season with Bowling Green University.

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Andrew Hammond and women's basketball player Jessica Slagle.

Male Athlete of the Week

Andrew Hammond, a junior from Surrey, British Columbia, went 1-1-0 this weekend against No. 13 Western Michigan. He made 57 saves in two games, posting a 2.01 goals against average with a .934 save percentage. He recorded his career-best eighth win of the season Saturday night in a 2-1 victory over the Broncos.
