BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Blaze waived goaltender Mark Sibbald before Friday night’s game against the Missouri Mavericks.

Sibbald came to the Blaze three weeks ago after being released by the Huntsville Havoc, where he was the reigning goaltender of the year in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Sibbald became expendable when the Blaze acquired Brian Mahoney-Wilson in a trade for future considerations with the Missouri Mavericks.

“I have heard nothing but good things about Brian,” Blaze coach Paul Gardner said.

Sibbald was signed on Dec. 10 and played in just two games. He allowed one goal over a combined 53 minutes in net.

Mahoney-Wilson is a first-year pro out of Lake Superior State. He played four games with Allen and five with Missouri, going 5-3-0 with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.

Mahoney-Wilson is the sixth goaltender to suit up this season for Bloomington.
