Vernon Vipers forward Patrick McGillis has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending April 17, the league announced Monday.
McGillis, who had just 25 points in the regular season, now has 16 points in 19 playoff games including the goal and assist he's tallied so far in the Doyle Cup against the Spruce Grove Saints.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Calgary product was named 2nd Star in Game 2 of the best-of-seven series Saturday night despite the Vipers dropping a 3-2 decision to the Saints. He followed that up with a 3rd Star showing on Sunday night, chipping in an assist in a 5-2 loss for a Vipers club that has tallied seven goals in the three games so far.
Honourable mentions go to Vernon's Michael Zalewski, who leads the Vipers in Doyle Cup scoring with three assists and defenceman Brett Corkey who has been reliable logging a lot of minutes at even strenghth and on the power play and has one assist.
