Just a week or so back it was ten years ago that the 2000-2001 Vernon Vipers missed the BCHL playoffs for the first time in twenty years finishing 5th in the Interior Division with a record of 24-26-10 This was the final season of Junior hockey in the Vernon Civic Arena as the Vipers would move into the brand new Vernon Multi-Plex the following season. Before 2000-2001 the last time the Vernon franchise didnt make the BCHL playoffs was in 1981 & 1982 when the Vernon Lakers missed the playoffs in back to back years for the first time since 1977-78. In the 49 year history of the Vernon franchise the team has only missed the playoffs four times (1978, 1981,1982 and 2001)
Vernon Vipers assistant coach, Jason Williamson was captain of the 2000-2001 Vipers team that missed the post-season.
