Tonight is the fourth meeting of the season between the defending back to back Royal Bank Cup Champion Vernon Vipers & the Merritt Centennials. The Vipers are coming off a two game road trip up North, where they won both games over Quesnel & Prince George. The Centennials are coming off a two game home stand with a tough overtime loss to Salmon Arm and a huge come from behind victory over Westside, Merritt now hit’s the road for four games starting off with just it’s second visit of the season to the Wesbild centre.

-The Vipers need to get off to a good start and can’t take the Cents lightly. Merritt is playing some of it’s best hockey of the season

-Ryan Renz & Dane Muench will be making their Viper home debuts tonight

-Vernon can’t look past Merritt as the Cents have played the Vipers very well this season. The Vipers need to concentrate on the Centennials tonight before looking ahead to Friday’s matchup with Powell River

-This is Merritt’s second visit of the season to the Wesbild Centre

-Tonight is the start of a four game road trip for the Centennials

-Merritt is playing some of it’s best hockey of the season going 6-3-0-1 in their last ten games

-Merritt is 2-3 in their last five road games

-The Cents are very strong on home ice (12-5-0-4) but struggle away from the Nicola Valley Arena going (5-15-0-2)

-The Centennials have the league’s 11th best powerplay

-Merritt is 6th in the BCHL on the penalty kill

-The Cents have had troubles scoring goals this season, putting up 119 wich is second last in the BCHL

-The Centennials need to get off to a good start and cant fall behind early

-Merritt has five former Vipers on their team. David Sabey, Jeff Jones and Tyler Steel who all were cut from the Vipers training camp over the past two season’s. Steve Tresierra & head coach-gm Luke Pierce both played in Vernon at onetime

-Former Viper tryout, Tyler Steel is 2-0 against his former team making 56 saves in both Cetennial victories

-The Cents need to try and get a lot of shots on goal, as the Vipers play a very defensive game giving up little shots and not a lot of goals. Vernon has given up just 111 goals this season, wich is second in the league behind Powell River who has given up just 76 goals

-All three games between these two teams have gone to overtime, with the Centennials coming away with two victories
