Former Viper Bishop Reassigned To Wheeling:


Former Vernon Vipers forward, Hunter Bishop has been reassigned to the ECHL Wheeling Nailers. Bishop played three seasons with the Vipers (2005-07 & 2007-08) before playing two seasons at Ohio State University. This past March the Montreal Canadiens signed Bishop as a free agent to a two year contract. Last year Bishop played with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. Prior to heading to Wheeling, Bishop was at the Montreal Canadiens training camp. Bishop is now the second former Viper on the Nailers. Former Vernon Vipers forward, and current Nailers captain Andrew Lord is in his third season with the Nailers.

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers announced Wednesday that forward Hunter Bishop has been assigned to the team by the Montreal Canadiens from the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL).

Bishop comes to Wheeling after spending the past two seasons as a standout player at Ohio State University. In two seasons with the Buckeyes, Bishop registered 58 points (29 goals and 29 assists). He appeared in nine games with Hamilton last spring and scored two goals and three assists.

The 6-0, 195-pound forward led the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) in scoring during the 2007-2008 season amassing 97 points in just 60 games played. Bishop was signed as a free agent by the Montreal Canadiens on March 19, 2010.
