Kings Win MJHL Championship:

This is posted on the Kings website:

Dauphin, MB - For the first time in 17 seasons, the Dauphin Kings and the City of Dauphin were crowned Manitoba Junior Hockey League Champions. The Kings completed the feat by sweeping the Winnipeg Saints by a count of 4 games to none to earn their 7th Turnbull Trophy in franchise history.

The capacity crowd remained following the traditional handshake for the presentation of the Turnbull Trophy. Mr. Kim Davis presented the Turnbull Trophy to captain Steven Shamanski as the Kings earned their first MJHL Championship in 17 seasons. The last time the Kings won the Turnbull Trophy was during the 1992/93 season with an identical 4 games to none sweep of the then St. Boniface Saints.

The Kings will now advance to the Anavet Cup, as they await the SJHL Champions. Yorkton and La Ronge are currently tied at 1 game apiece with games 3 and 4 scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Yorkton, SK.

The Kings only Anavet Cup victory came in 1982/83 when they defeated the Yorkton Terriers 4 games to 1.

Please check back to dauphinkings.com for all the Anavet Cup details, including the schedule and ticket information. The Kings will enjoy nearly two weeks off before beginning their best-of-seven match-up with the champions from the SJHL.
