ANAVET CUP BACK TO MANITOBA?

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

The Dauphin Kings are one win away from claiming the ANAVET Cup and returning the trophy back to Manitoba after watching the SJHL champ walk away the victors in each of the last two years.

For the second straight night, the Kings peppered the La Ronge Ice Wolves goal with a plethora of shots and for the third straight game, they emerged victorious as they won 5-3 at Credit Union Place on Wednesday evening. They can wrap up the series on Thursday in Dauphin.

Patrick Kozyra and Shane Luke scored powerplay goals a little more than two minutes apart early in the second and then Dallas Drysdale's goal at the midway point broke open a 1-1 game and allowed the Kings to grab a 4-1 advantage.

Joel Kot, who had four points, and Troy Hunter also scored for Dauphin.

La Ronge got goals from Travis Eggum, Doug Lindensmith, and Leo Lacourciere.

Adam Bartko made 37-saves in the loss. Joe Caligiuri faced only 20 at the other end.

The Ice Wolves didn't dress either of their top two defensemen, Dustin Stevenson and Mike Alexander.

Alexander played on Tuesday, Stevenson did not in a 4-1 loss in game three.

It was a game in which Dan Conacher had the lone Ice Wolves goal and Joel Danyluk made 51-saves, allowing just three goals.

Kot leads all players with 10-points in the series. Mitch Czibere has 1-goal and 6-assists. Troy Hunter leads all Kings with 4-goals.

For La Ronge, Conacher also has four goals. He's tied with Lindensmith for the team lead in points with 5. Danyluk, despite a .941-SPCT is just 1-and-1 with a 3.03-GAA.
