Vernon Vipers forward Kellen Jones has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending April 18th, the league announced Monday.

The week began with Jones playing a pivotal role in his team's Fred Page Cup-clinching Game 7 victory over the Powell River Kings. In that game, the 19-year old assisted on all three of the Vipers' goals in a win that advanced the club to the Doyle Cup.

Jones' hot streak continued in the first three games of Vernon's series against the Spruce Grove Saints, as he currently leads all Doyle Cup scorers with five points. On Saturday night, Jones assisted on a second period marker by twin brother Connor before striking for the game winner himself.

The Montrose, B.C. product finished second amongst Vipers postseason scorers with 19 points in 19 games. In three full BCHL seasons, Jones has scored 39 goals and added 134 assists in 154 games.

The Vipers and Saints resume the 2010 Doyle Cup on Wednesday at the Wesbild Centre. Vernon currently holds a 2-1 series lead.
