Williams Lake (9-21-1-0) @ Vernon (36-4-0-2)

Last Game Played:

Saturday January 8th Vernon defeated Westside 4-1
Saturday January 8th Penticton defeated Williams Lake 8-0

Tonight is the 4th meeting of the season between the defending Royal Bank Cup Champion Vernon Vipers & the Williams Lake Timberwolves. Vernon comes into tonights game on a two game winning streak. Williams Lake is riding a six game losing streak.

Let’s take a look at the Vernon Vipers:

The Vipers currently sit #1 overall in Canada & in the league as the BCHL’s best team with a record of 36-4-0-2 three points up on the 2nd place Penticton Vees. Vernon has scored a league high 211 goals and given up the least amount of goals with just 75. Vernon is 17-3-0-1 at home & 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 games. The Vipers have three players in the leagues top 20 in scoring. Mike Collins (23-36-59), Connor Jones (26-27-53), Braden Pimm (19-29-48). Blake Voth leads the league as the BCHL’s top goaltender. Voth has a record of 11-0 with 3 shutouts and a GAA of 1.25

Vernon cant take Williams Lake lightly and need to come ready to play a full 60 minutes.

The Vipers need to jump on the T-Wolves early and not give them a chance to hang around.

Who will get the start in goal? Blake Voth is coming off back to back wins and was five minutes away from just about picking up back to back shutouts. Voth is 11-0 and is the leagues top goaltender.

Tonight is the final game before the BCHL trade deadline, wich is Sunday at 6pm

Tonight is the final home game before the team heads to play in this years BCHL All-Star game and hit the road for five games.

Let’s take a look at the Williams Lake Timberwolves:

The Timberwolves currently sit in last place with a record of 9-21-1-0 The Timberwolves have scored just 105 goals but have had troubles keeping the puck out of the net, giving up 211 goals. Williams Lake is 2-15-1-0 on the road. Williams Lake is 1-9-0-0 in their last 10 games.

This wont be an easy task for the Williams Lake Timberwolves but If they can score early and catch the Vipers napping, they may be able to pull out the upset.

The T-Wolves are going to have to play a solid 60 minutes and try and stop the leagues highest scoring team.

Goaltending will be key, if Williams Lake can get some strong goaltending from either Sean Donnelly or Evan Dauenhauer the T-Wolves may snap their six game losing streak.

Williams Lake needs to try and play a boring style of road game, slow things down, don’t allow Vernon to use their speed and skill. Play a simple road game.

The T-Wolves have to remember the pressure is on Vernon, not Williams Lake.

Ryan Stanimir (18-15-33)
Trent Murdoch (12-20-32)
